Here is the good news we got so far today. Yesterday, Hannah lost her total blood supply. (Glad they didn't tell us that yesterday. She needed yet another transfusion last night (4 in total I think). The resident said that the blood loss came mostly at the end of the surgery. He said that this is a little shock to one's system. So for the next 48 hours we are looking for baby steps. If she gets better the next step will be to get her off the breathing machine.
We want you all to know that this is such a comfort to read your thoughts and comments. I know it's not so private , but the ability to use wireless right in ICU (where we can't use cell phones) is amazing. If you are curious how to help...guess what..you are already doing what is the most important right now! Giving prayers and support. Thank you for doing this for us!
This am the good news is:
1. They took her off Fentenell (sp?) a medicine to help regulate your blood pressure. It is still low but she is holding her own. They did an Xray of her chest and lungs, and we guess it looked good.
2. Her face looks a tiny bit less swollen, as does her hands.
3. Hannah opens her eyes..and shakes her head "no" to our singing! She is aware enough to know we don't have good voices...or we are not singing the right song she wants! She is moving her hands and toes, which is great. She is "mouthing" things to us, and seems glad to see us.
4. She can't talk but mouthed "Tarly" her name for her sister, when shown Carly's picture.
5. She is bleeding a little less from yesterday from her wounds on her spine.
Thanks for all your love and wishes,
Katie and Tim

Hi Guys!-
FIVE great news nuggets! All good to read...How wonderful that you can be in ICU and use a wireless Internet connection. A wonderful link to the outside world and the outside world to you. I know from experience that the ICU can feel like an island... Hey, Tim can be Gilligan and Katie, you and Hannah can flip a coin to see who is Mary Ann and Ginger. Will they allow a feather boa in ICU?
Seriously though, thank you for posting and big, big, big, love coming to you right this moment! Feel it?
Lotsaluv,
Rena
Go Hanny!!! It's amazing what a little platelet cocktail will do to give you a really big boost! Tell Tim and Katie not to sing too loud...we don't want to scare the other patients:) Stay strong and know that we love you, even though your parents can't sing very well!
Love from the Rubins

This is Barbara P.--so glad to get your update. This if a fantastic communication device--Thank you Rena, Roomie! I had been checking all morning for a Hugging Hannah update and was soooo happy to get the good news that Hannah even said "Tarly" for her Sis. Those sibling bonds are something even us parents can't break and that is a wonderful thing. Of course we added our wonderful Larkin family to our dinner grace. We will continue asking for God's peace and healing for you and guidance for the docs. We know our prayers are heard and answered--our precious Hannah is proof of that. Praying always and loving you all infinitely! Keep those wonderful "baby steps" coming!!
Hi Larkins,
Glad you were able to get some sleep. You do need to make sure you are taking care of yourselves as you go through this difficult time. I am glad Hannah is alert enough to indicate she doesn't like your singing:)
Katie, remember I am right down the street from you, so if you need anything at all taken care of at your house, please ask. I would love to help in any way.
Kyle has been saying special prayers for Hannah each night. He remembers her sweet loving hugs each time he has seen her.
We can't wait to get our next hugs from Hannah.
Love you,
Susan
Katie and Tim,

Katie,Tim and Carly
We are with you in spirit and pray for an infection free "speedy" recovery. We all know that Hannah is your own "special" angel, too bad her parents can't sing like them. Remember Katie, Aunt Marge always believed you were a "sturdy woman" and we know Aunt Marge never lied! Hang in there!
